Welcome to New York: Study Abroad Recap

Hey y'all, it's Cait checking in from my study abroad program! My first stop was the city that never sleeps, the city so nice they named it twice: NEW YORK CITY! Here is a recap of everything I wore, ate, saw and did while in the Big Apple!

I hopped on a plane early in the morning so I knew I was going to need be comfy but with a whole afternoon in the city ahead of me I also knew I needed to be cute. I layered the MWL Knit Biker Unitard from Madewell with our new Camille sweater and paired it with my go-to Veja sneakers. Once I met up with some of the other girls in my program we headed to the Upper East Side for some exploring, stopped by the Plaza for a little Eloise moment and ended with dinner at Sant Ambroeus.

I wanted to channel my inner Flower District with this first outfit! I paired our Lacey top with some white flare jeans from Gap, I tossed my hair up in a curled pony for an effortless spring look.

For our first full day in the city we hit 2 iconic fashion tv spots. If you ever watched Project Runway then you know exactly what MOOD is. It was so cool getting to see all of the fabrics up close and personal. Our next stop was none other than Kleinfeld Bridal! We got a tour from a Bama alum and even got to try on some tiaras. While I didn't say yes to a dress, it was so fun being able to be where all the bridal magic happens!

To finish off our day we made the spontaneous decision to see Lea Michele in Funny Girl on Broadway! It was such a good show, so glad we were able to catch it while she was still in the role of Fanny Brice!

We were on the go this day starting at our hostel in Queens heading over to Midtown and then down to SoHo so I needed something to fit the energetic vibe. I went with our Erica romper, which is the perfect mix of industrial with some of the button & pocket details and girly with the fun floral print!

We started the day in one of the most well known NYC based retailers: Macy's! We even got to chat with some of their corporate team and heard all about how they design their private labels in the store. A M&V dream would be to have our own line! Next we made our way down to the Glossier in SoHo and I got recognized by a girl in the store, it is always so cool getting to meet followers and customers out in the wild! We ended our day with dinner and gelato in Little Italy.

We always encourage y'all to take the pieces at our shop and make them your own, and that's exactly what I did for this ootd! This J Crew slip skirt has been a staple in Con and I's closet for years so I paired it with the tank from our 3 piece Mabry set. Study abroad tip: pack pieces that are easy to mix and match to save space in your suitcase!

For our last full day in NYC was all about museums! We went to Taylor Swift: Storyteller exbibit at the Museum of Art & Design and the Met! If you didn't already know I am a huge Swiftie so getting to see some of her ICONIC outfits in this exhibit was definitely a highlight of the trip. The Met is quintessential NY, you can't help but channel your inner Blair Waldorf and sit on the steps. We were able to see the Karl Lagerfeld exhibition from this year's Met Gala while we were there. I loved getting to see his sketches and designs from his career and even saw a couple looks that have been seen on the steps at the Met Gala!

Next stop: LONDON!

Before jet setting off across the pond, we made a pitstop in some vintage shops in Brooklyn. This next travel day was a bit longer than the flight up from Austin so I wore our new Drew jumpsuit with the MWL Striped Rugby Polo Shirt from Madewell for an extra comfy fit.
